Peter has has been passionate about drawing all his life, since he could first
hold a pencil. A box of coloured pencils and watercolours was an adventure
second to none.
Due to a busy business career, and family commitments, he was unable to afford
the time to pursue his interest seriously until 2000. Except for a brief period
in the 1980s, he is self-taught. As an Antiques Dealer for 25 years, he dealt in
fine art, both antique and contemporary, and this offered increased exposure to
the arts world. He has been a resident of Margaret River since 1994, beef and
olive farming in the Bramley/Airdale district.
He sees art as the exploration of light and shadow playing on colour and form,
and enjoys using a diversity of media. He has undertaken numerous commissions,
including portraits.
* Attended Claremont School of Art in 1985, and studied life drawing and
sculpture under Richard Merito.
* In 2000 joined the Busselton Art Society and recommenced life drawing
* In September 2001 began painting and has experimented with different media
and subject matter.still life, landscape and the human figure, mainly painting
in acrylics and oils, but to a lesser extent, charcoal and pastel.
* In July 2002 initiated the Bramley Group, with local artists drawing
models from life in his studio.
